01
What type of prawns do you supply?
We specialise in premium frozen Vannamei prawns, also known as white leg prawns. They're available in a range of varieties, including cooked, raw, peeled, deveined, tail-on, shell-on, and IQF, depending on your business requirements.
02
How do you maintain product freshness during delivery?
Every prawn travels through a fully temperature-controlled cold chain, from processing facility to your door. Nothing leaves our care unless it's at the right temperature, and it stays that way until it reaches you.
03
I noticed that your prawns have glazing. What does this mean?
Glazing is a thin protective layer of ice applied to frozen prawns to help preserve their quality during storage and transport. It prevents freezer burn, reduces moisture loss, and helps maintain the prawns' natural texture, flavour, and appearance.
04
Are your seafood products responsibly sourced?
Yes. We work directly with trusted aquaculture farms that operate to strict sustainability and hygiene standards. Knowing exactly where your prawns come from isn't a nice-to-have. It's the foundation of everything we do. We typically supply prawns with 20–30% glazing, depending on the product specification. However, we can provide custom glazing levels to meet your requirements, including lower or higher percentages where requested. All product specifications clearly state the glazing percentage, ensuring complete transparency on net and drained weights.
05
Who do you supply your products to?
Wholesalers, retailers, restaurants, supermarkets, and foodservice businesses across the UK. If you need a reliable, consistent supply of premium frozen prawns, we're built for that.
06
How can I place an order or become a distribution partner?
Get in touch via the contact form, email, or phone, and we'll take it from there. We're happy to talk through product availability, bulk pricing, and what a long-term supply partnership with Pushpa Seafoods could look like for your business.
07
What quality standards do your products follow?
Our prawns are processed under internationally recognised food safety protocols, with rigorous hygiene controls and quality checks at every stage. HACCP certification isn't a badge we hang on the wall. It's how we operate, every single day.
08
What is IQF and why does it matter?
IQF stands for Individually Quick Frozen. Each prawn is frozen separately at source immediately after processing, locking in moisture, texture, and flavour at the exact moment it's at its best. The result is a consistently high-quality product that performs well in any kitchen or food production setting.

11
How do you maintain quality during delivery?
Every delivery is made in refrigerated, food-grade vehicles that maintain a consistent temperature of -18°C from our cold storage facility to your door. Temperatures are monitored throughout transit, and nothing leaves our facility unless conditions are exactly right.
12

17
I'm a small independent retailer. Can you supply me?

18
How do I know where to buy the best prawns in the UK?
Look for a supplier with full cold-chain traceability, HACCP certification, direct farm relationships, and a track record of reliable delivery. We deliver all of these benefits and more.
19
Do you only supply Vannamei prawns?
Vannamei is our core product and the variety we've built our supply chain around. It's the most versatile, most consistent, and most widely used prawn species in UK food businesses because it’s a great all-rounder.

21
What pack sizes are your frozen prawns available in?
Our frozen prawns are available in 500g, 1kg, and 2kg packs. The 500g pack is suited to retail, the 1kg to restaurants and catering, and the 2kg to wholesalers and high-volume buyers.
22
What is the difference between block frozen and IQF prawns?
Block frozen prawns are frozen together as a single mass, making them a cost-effective option for operations that use large quantities in one go, such as high-volume catering or food manufacturing. The format is compact and easy to store. IQF, or Individually Quick Frozen, means each prawn is frozen separately at the point of processing. This gives you complete flexibility. Simply take what you need, return the rest to the freezer, and repeat. IQF also locks in moisture, texture, and flavour at the moment the prawn is at its freshest, making it the preferred format for kitchens and retailers where portion control and presentation matter.
